Hello All and happy new year. This is my first time joining a group on this site. When I saw health and wellness I had to join. I recently became really really rinterested in health and wellness at the end of the year when my husband was back in the hospital with problems from diabetes again. I have diabetes also and do not want to get sick. So I am taking charge of my health and wellness. I have started taking Juice plus and selling it also. Also, I am now studing to learn how to be a fitness instructor and also about nutrition. I will be posting a picture shortly and changing it as I progress with the weight loss. Also, I am going to join www.myfitnesspal.com.

Wow, glad to join this group since this is what my 4 businesses are all about!!

I went out to the website recommended by Kim.....and joined also. This was the 2nd time today I ran across Jillian Michaels' name, but had no clue who she really was, as I have never watched Biggest Losers on TV.
I do not need to lose that much weight, but I do need to tone up a LOT!!
Have any of you heard of the Core Rhythms Latin Dance videos (website: www.corerhythms.com/ )? I was up late one night (what else is new?) and saw their infomercial. Now this is HOW I want to tone up, by dancing and not feeling like I am exercising!! Check it out and let me know what you think. I am going to order the whole system soon.
I know I eat pretty healthy, and have for many years now, not necessarily by choice, but because both my daughter and son were great workout-aholics in their teen years,watched what they ate and actually changed my cooking habits for them!!
Also since my parents both have corroded artery health issues (both of my Dad's have been 'stripped' by surgery in the past 2 years and my Mom's have been monitored for years and she is on meds to keep them clear), my doctor, being proactive, thought maybe my arteries should be checked.
He, as was I, was shocked that I have less than 5% plaque in my arteries ......10% is considered excellent, so 5% is almost unheard of (!!) and he told me I must have been eating correctly for a long time......and to keep doing what I had been doing.
Also with a lot of colitis issues in my 20s, my doctor in Omaha, whom I had for 23 years before returning to GA, told me I needed to cut salt and caffeine out of my diet to tame my colon........I did.....and no more colon issues. So I have continued these two habits.....and my doctor now told me this also attributed to my arteries being so clear. So I am passing this advice along to all of you also........no salt or caffeine.
A lot of people say they have to have caffeine and cannot function without it........hogwash!! Anyone who knows me knows I have enough energy for 5 people.......all without a speck of caffeine in 40 years!!
Giving kudos to my children again, they got me in the habit of mainly eating lots and lots of fruits and veggies, along with just chicken, fish and turkey for maybe 30 years now ..... occasionally beef or pork, but my system no longer digest the latter two very well anymore (a good thing!!)
So....I an anxious to see if I am eating the correct caloric food intakes each day and how to get more toned with minimal exercise.....in minimal time in my busy schedule......like trying this Core Rhythm dancing.
My husband, Rich, was always slim and stayed fit with his blue collar physical jobs. But he started putting on pounds (lots of them) about 6 years ago after working only supervisory jobs instead of the physical labor. Now he is a long distance truck driver.......and looks like the 'other pregnant man'!! Ha!!
I will be showing him this website when he gets home this weekend.......and we are going to set up a plan for him to lose about 45-50 lbs.!! Will let all of you know how he is doing.....and how much weight he loses in a certain amount of time!!

Kim, Thanks so much for the info about www.myfitnesspal.com. It's a great site and tool for anyone wanting to stay fit! I'm keeping track of my food journal and exercise, and it's great! Now I'm encouraging other friends to join.

I'm In! I signed up (again) at our Parks/Rec Club in Watauga. it's only $40per year, 2min's from my house, so no excuses this time. My 14 year old daughter signed up last night too!

Okay Karen, I joined! I did 32 minutes on the Wii Fit today. The hula hoop aerobic exercise is really fun and it really makes you sweat! If anyone is interested, there is a great website, www.myfitnesspal.com, and you can journal your daily meals (the calories, carbs, and protein you consume) and your daily exercise. It even give you advice on how to lose weight the proper way (by eating correctly and exercising, NOT dieting all the time). Its free so give it a try!
