Looking to turn my passions for women's and girls issues into a non-profit and work for myself in general. Co-founded an empowerment group for pre-teen girls in the Atlanta area called Jewels. I also serve as a leader/moderator for EMGirls an online social network/community for teen girls ages 12-18 (www.emwomen.ning.com/group/emgirls)
My name is Kara Norman and I am a mother of two girls, ages 10 and 5. I've been married for 11 years to my wonderful husband. We live in the Atlanta area. I have longed to live a more fulfilling life in which I was able to work with women and girls. Being a part of this site is helping to make one of those a reality. Recently I partnered with a friend of mine and we are launching an empowerment group for pre-teens in the Atlanta area.
Jewels is a subsidiary of G.E.M.S - Girls Empowered By Morals and Standards a charitable organization for teenage girls between the age of 13 and 17.

Hey Ladies! If you are like me your are addicted to your social networks online, such an amazing way to connect, network and be a part of something amazing! With this in mind if you know of any teen girls ages 13-18 who are in love with myspace or facebook, please send them my information and have them join EMGirls and new EMpowering group for girls!
Join me as we seek to create a new generation of girls to lead our future! What do EMwomen and EMgirls have in common? They are both dedicated to raising up future leaders who use their lives to make a difference in the world. Whether you are mom, checking out the group, or a young woman looking to connect with other girls with a passion to change the world, EMgirls is all about providing a positive place of connection, interaction, creativity, education, community service, and fun for teen and pre-teen girls that promotes a higher standard of living, purity, and excellence. Will you help us "RE-Invent BEAUTIFUL" by partnering with us to invite your friends and help us create a network of girls that don't set their top priority on "looking beautiful", but instead, set their aim on "living beautiful". Together, we can reinvent the way girls and women think about themselves, and the way we look at others.
Interesting video about how the media influences our girls:
OUR MISSION:To EMpower Girls to recognize and fulfill their unique potential by instilling leadership skills, fostering critical thinking, supporting their individual potential, helping them overcome limiting behaviors, and by re-inventing "beautiful" as a word that describes the inner beauty of a girl as seen in her service and love for others. We believe that every girl has the potential to change the world, and EMgirls can help her do it! We encourage you to invite your friends to the EMgirls group and begin using your "online" time to make friends that make a difference!
Kara Norman, the moderator of the EMgirls Group, comes to our team with an amazing passion for educating, motivating, and inspiring young women to step beyond their limitations into a life of greatness. Her experience and life-story qualify her, not only as a woman of great leadership, but as a "girl" who can relate to the struggles so many young women face today. Check out her full bio and passion for girls in the discussion "Kara Cares" on EMGirls website.

Written the night Barack Obama won the Presidential Election, these were my thoughts:
As the tears on my face dry up, I'm so in awe of this special night, a night where America has chosen the very 1st African American President of the United States of America! As I watched and filmed this historic event, I wanted to capture and hold onto every moment of the experience. Something so truly amazing to witness and to be able to share with my 10 year old daughter. The message that she is rece… Continue

Hi Kara!
Great to hear from you!
Man I enjoyed reading your website. As a mother of a set of twin girls (8 months) what you offer is very much needed in our community. I am excited! If you are looking for volunteers let me know. Hope to talk to you soon!
P.S. I offer lots of travel specials so let me know when you are ready for a great vacation! :)
Hi Kara,
Thanks for the warm welcome. If you are on the South Side of Atlanta, I'd encourage you to check out Fayette FACTOR - a collaboration of non-profit entities that focuses on the betterment of primarily youth in Fayette County. Especially see if you can get linked up with the PCA (Prevent Child Abuse) subgroup - they are doing things right up your alley.

Hello Kara, Thank you for the welcome. I'm glad to be a part of such positive women! I love what you're doing with women and the upcoming young ladies (EM girls). I interest in helping with fitness which I believed is a big part of "self image". Let's talk soon.
